RULES AND BYELAWS

 RULES OF NORTH WARWICKSHIRE GOLF CLUB LIMITED (THE CLUB) 

 

 

  1. Articles of Association

Authority and responsibility for the Club and of these Rules devolve from the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Club through the Board of Directors and elected Officers. A copy of the Memorandum and Articles of Association is available for inspection from the Secretary.

 

  1. Election of Members.

Unless the Club see special reason to waive this rule, the application for membership of every candidate shall be made in writing and signed by the candidate on the form from the Secretary/Membership Secretary. Any candidate for membership must have personally met with either the Secretary or Membership Secretary and have their approval before being accepted as a member.

 

  1. Entrance Fee/Voting Rights.

Entrance fee, (optional), payable by members shall be set by the Club. A Club member who has paid the entrance fee in full and is duly registered who shall have paid every subscription and other sum (if any), which shall be due and payable to the club in respect of membership shall be entitled to vote either personally or by proxy at Club General Meetings.

 

  1. Subscriptions.

Annual subscriptions payable by each member of the Club shall be set by the Club. All annual subscriptions shall become payable by the 1st Day of April in every year. Members elected after the 30th day of June in any year shall pay a reduced subscription on a pro-rata basis. Subscriptions may be paid over a 10-month period subject to a small surcharge.

 

  1. Overdue Subscriptions.

Any member whose annual subscription is unpaid on the first day of April in any year shall not be entitled to play the course or represent the Club in any matches or tournaments. The member may be suspended/cease to be a member of the Club, but can, at the discretion of the Club, be reinstated on payment of all arrears and shall in any event remain liable for all monies due to the Club.

 

  1. Membership Categories (Voting and Non-Voting)

Membership – Intermediate Member (24 -27) – Intermediate Member (21 – 23)

Junior (18 – 20) – Junior (16 – 17)

Junior Under 16 (Free if Parent, Grandparent or Guardian is a Member) (not eligible to vote).

A Member – May play 7 days a week including competitions.

Country Member – Country Membership may be granted to persons residing outside a radius of 50 miles of the Club and who are full members of another recognised UK Golf Club. They shall have no voice in the management of the Club but shall be eligible to play in Club competitions providing they have an active handicap.

Holding Member – Holding membership, at a reduced subscription, may be granted at the discretion of the Club to members who are unable to play golf due to injury or illness. The situation to be reviewed annually at the renewal date.

Social Member – Social members shall be entitled to all the privileges of the Club, but are not permitted to play the course unless they pay an appropriate green fee.

                                                                                                                             

 

  1. Resignations.

Any member wishing to resign their membership of the Club shall give notice in writing of their intention so to do, addressed to the Secretary or Subscription Secretary at the Registered Office of the Club on or before the 31st day of March, failing which, such member shall be liable to pay the subscription for the next financial year. Former members, who resigned, wishing to re-join the Club within a period of five years shall be submitted for election as provided by the Articles of Association, but shall pay the current entrance fee less the entrance fee previously paid. If a member leaves during their membership year, for any reason, refunds will not be available.

 

  1. Visitors and Guests.

A Visitor.

Someone who visits the Club but is not introduced by a member.

A Guest.

Someone who visits the Club and is introduced by a member.

Visitors and Guests may play the course on payment of the green fee as from time to time prescribed by the Club. The scale of charges will be prominently displayed. Such visitors shall be entitled to all the privileges of the Club, including the purchase of drinks if served by a member of the Club.

Visitors and Guests can play the course at the discretion of the Club Professional and must comply with the Club’s Dress Code.

A playing member may only introduce up to three guests at the concessionary fee at one time.

All guests introduced by a member of the Club may use the clubhouse, after signing the visitors’ book. (Members are reminded that this is a legal requirement, failure to comply could result in the Club losing its licence.)

 

  1. Insurance.

Members are covered for Personal Liability/Personal Accident cover. (Details from the Office) The use of buggies at the Club includes insurance subject to signing the Golf Buggy Safety Policy Acknowledgement Form.

 

  1. Complaints.

All complaints shall be in writing addressed to the Secretary who shall report to the Club at their next meeting. The Secretary shall be empowered to deal with complaints wherever possible.

 

  1. Loss of Property

The Club shall not be liable for the loss or damage of property while left in or on the Club's premises or land. The Club

recommends that all members should obtain the appropriate insurance to cover such eventualities.

 

12.Reserved Tees.

The first tee may be reserved as follows: -

  1. Ladies (Thursday Morning). Flexible starting times.
  2. Exclusives Monthly Competitions Shotgun Start (Wednesday) 8.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.
  3. For all matches and society events, the first tee will be reserved to suit the arranged starting times.

In general Players on the 1st tee have preference over the 10th tee, men’s or ladies. Subsequent matches must alternate.

On competition days timed matches on the 1st tee have preference over matches leaving the 9th green. Whenever possible tee times must be booked. Booked tee times have priority.

 

  1. Competitions.

Subject to the approval of the Club, the Competitions Sub-Committee shall lay down the conditions under which a Competition is to be played, R & A Rules of Golf effective in conjunction with NWGC Local Rules. See Competition Rules on the Club Website under Member tab.

Trophy Competitions. No member shall be deemed eligible to enter Trophy Competitions unless they have an active handicap. The maximum handicap for Trophy Competitions is specified by the appropriate Committee.

 

  1. Practising.

Practise is allowed ONLY within the designated areas and NOT on the course.

 

  1. Dress Code.

Dress must be appropriate when playing golf. Inappropriate clothing includes denim, tee shirts, non-golf collarless shirts and trainers. In the Clubhouse smart casual dress is acceptable but no hats or golf shoes in the clubhouse. After competitions when a meal is provided players may be required to change out of playing clothes. For certain functions, the dress code may be specified.

 

  1. Golf Rules and Standards of Player Conduct.

All players must observe high standards of player conduct. The Rules of the R & A effective shall be the Rules of North Warwickshire Golf Club with the addition of any Local Rules that may be approved by the Club.  Particular attention is drawn to "Consideration for Other Players" and "Priority on the Course". (R & A Rule 1).

 

  1. Dogs.

No dogs or other animals may be brought into or onto any of the Club’s land or buildings with the exception of assistance dogs, or in a specific circumstance authorised in advance by the Club.

 

  1. Clubhouse

The hours of opening and closing of the clubhouse shall be determined by the Club and displayed on a notice board in the clubhouse.

 

  1. Mobile phones

May be used with discretion and must not delay or cause annoyance.

 

  1. 20. President/Vice President/Other Positions.
  2. a) A President/Vice President may not be elected at the Annual General Meeting unless they have been nominated by the VPs and have confirmed their willingness to stand.
  3. b) Other Positions may be nominated by the Board/Management Committee.
